CleanGUT
The gastrointestinal tract or gut plays a crucial role in the excretion of waste products and toxins from the body. Nurturing a CleanGUT involves understanding the mechanisms of gastrointestinal excretion, exploring testing options to assess gut health, and implementing strategies to support optimal digestive function and efficient elimination of toxins.
Why is it important to have CleanGUT?

-
Regulation: Hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are metabolized and eliminated from the body through the gut. The gut microbiota, the community of beneficial bacteria in the gut, plays a significant role in this process by influencing hormone metabolism and maintaining hormone balance. Additionally, the gut produces hormones such as leptin, ghrelin, and peptide YY, which help regulate hunger, fullness, and energy balance. This intricate interplay between the gut and hormones ensures proper regulation of metabolic processes and overall hormonal balance.

-
Toxin and Waste Elimination: The gut serves as a primary route for the elimination of toxins and waste products from the body. It plays a critical role in the digestion and absorption of nutrients while filtering out harmful substances. The gut lining acts as a barrier, preventing the entry of toxins and pathogens into the bloodstream. The gut also houses a diverse community of beneficial bacteria that help in the breakdown and elimination of waste materials.

-
Fuel Intake and Distribution: The gut is responsible for the intake and distribution of fuel in the body. It absorbs nutrients from the food we eat, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, and transports them to various tissues and organs for energy production and other functions. The gut helps regulate the release of glucose into the bloodstream, ensuring a steady supply of fuel for the body's energy needs.

-
Protection and Defense: The gut plays a vital role in our immune system, serving as the first line of defense against pathogens and harmful substances. It houses a large population of immune cells that help identify and neutralize potential threats. The gut microbiota, the community of beneficial bacteria in the gut, also plays a critical role in immune function by maintaining a healthy gut barrier and supporting immune responses.
How does the Cleanbody Method support CleanGUT?
There are three steps in the Cleanbody Method, and all of the steps support CleanGUT.
STEP 1: EVALUATE
It is important for you to evaluate your gut health on a yearly basis with your healthcare practitioner. In our CleanSTART program, we will support you in investigating your gut health using lab tests such as:

-
Stool Analysis: Stool analysis, including tests for fecal occult blood, parasites, bacteria, and other markers, can provide insights into gut health and identify potential issues such as inflammation, infections, or malabsorption problems. These tests can help assess the efficiency of gastrointestinal excretion and the presence of toxins or abnormal substances.

-
Microbiome Analysis: Microbiome analysis involves studying the composition and function of the gut microbiota. It provides insights into the diversity and balance of bacteria in the gut and can help identify imbalances or dysbiosis. Microbiome analysis can be done through stool or other sample testing methods.

-
Food Sensitivity Testing: Food sensitivity testing can help identify specific foods that may trigger an immune response or cause gut-related symptoms. It can be helpful in identifying potential dietary triggers and optimizing gut health.

STEP 2: OPTIMIZE
In Step 2 of the Cleanbody Method, we support you in optimizing your Cleanbody Pillars. The following Clean Pillars support CleanGUT:
-
CleanFOOD: Consuming a diet high in fiber, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts, supports digestive health and promotes regular bowel movements.
-
Fiber adds bulk to the stool, aids in waste elimination, and helps maintain a healthy gut environment.
-
Drinking an adequate amount of water helps prevent constipation and supports proper digestion. Aim to drink enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated and support the movement of waste products through the GI tract.
-
Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that support a healthy gut microbiome. Consuming probiotic-rich foods, such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi, or taking probiotic supplements, can promote gut health.
-
Prebiotics, on the other hand, are non-digestible fibers that serve as food for probiotics, helping them thrive in the gut.
-
Consuming healthy fats, such as those found in avocados, olive oil, and fatty fish, supports bile production and efficient digestion. These fats help ensure the emulsification and absorption of dietary fats, aiding in the elimination of waste products.
-

-
CleanENVIRO: Minimize exposure to toxins and harmful substances that can negatively impact gut health, such as certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, processed foods, and environmental toxins. Follow prescribed medication dosages and consult with your healthcare provider regarding potential gut risks.

-
CleanMIND: Chronic stress can negatively impact gut health. Practicing stress management techniques such as exercise, meditation, deep breathing, and getting enough sleep can help promote a healthy gut.

STEP 3 SUPPORT
In Step 3, we will explore additional supplements and treatments that can provide support in nurturing CleanGUT, if needed. While a balanced diet and lifestyle are key, certain circumstances may benefit from additional interventions, including nutritional supplements, herbs and homeopathy, advanced nutrition plans, supportive treatments, and compounded medications when available for use.
